April's Colour of the Month, with Sue and Sandi

Hello Everyone
Today I want to share some of the wonderful projects the design team ladies have done featuring our colour of the month - which is green. There are so many shades of green and I am sure you all have a photo with this colour. I would love to receive some more projects from you. Remember you will go into the draw to win $50 worth of our chipboard if you submit a project to me by the 23rd of the month.. You can also have a chance to win $30 worth of chipboard just by leaving a comment here or on our facebook page.
So lets see how the design team have used Green.

First up is Sue
Sue has done a mixed media box for our "Colour of the Month" theme.
It is a small box but Sue has fitted so much on it. I just love the colour and the tininess of this box.
It must have taken Sue quite a while to make.

Here is what Sue had to say about her box.
Green is not my go to colour, though when I do use it, I love it. This month I made another box, this time a trinket box, made from a sturdy box that comes with my favourite jewelry in it .

I have done my usual mixed media layered treatment but this time featuring green.

I added some plastic trim along the bottom, a perfect place to add some rhinestones later, when covered with lots of metallic paint.

The gorgeous square rhinestones come from an old bracelet someone gave me, ony a cheapie of course lol. Now to fill it with something and give as a gift.

Isn't this the most beautiful tiny box! It reminds me of something from the middle ages. Not sure if its the colour or the size of that gem!. I would be perfect to hold a very valuable treasure. It's just to pretty to give away to anybody. I would want to keep it and have it on display - maybe under a glass dome.

Thank you Sue for sharing your tiny box with us today.

Next up is Sandi
Sandi did a gorgeous  layout for our "Colour of the Month" challenge.

Sandi is a master of  mixed media layouts. I love her back grounds and all the work she does on her pages before she even starts adding anything. She has chosen a great photo for this layout and the perfect chipboard title.
Here is what Sandi had to say about her layout.

This months colour challenge is green. My inspiration came from taking my grandchildren to the local park and exploring the natural environment in the area.

Choosing the olive green from the 7Dots Paper, I mixed some matching acrylic paint into transparent texture paste by Ranger and smeared it over the new Imaginarium Design 'Kate stencil' to add dimension the background. When dry I stamped some script in white over the page.

The 'All grown up' and '2015' chippie pieces were painted in blue acrylic to match the blue in the background paper and then added layers of die cut outs behind the photo and in the lower corner to balance the page.

Sandi has got the balance of mixed media and embellishments/elements perfect in this layout. The photo really pops from the page. Having two elements on a layout can look over done, but Sandi's work so well together and balance each other perfectly.
